More teenagers having irreversible sex change surgery (Aust)

Herald Sun 2 July 2015
Last month, four got Family Court permission to have gender-swapping treatment.
Eight have been granted the life-changing treatment this year, double last year’s number.
All were aged 15 to 17, but the court has approved applications by teens as young as 13.
A total of 25 cases have been dealt with since the first court application in 2004.
All were diagnosed with gender dysphoria — a strong desire to be the other gender — and most have the support of their parents.
They or their guardians must apply to the court for permission to have medical treatment for the condition.
Applications for treatment can also be made to state Supreme Courts.
