Most of us are well aware of the incredible power wielded by the media, much of which promotes an extremely liberal agenda. So while disappointing, it’s no surprise that Netflix does a ‘hit-job’ on Christianity with a poorly constructed ‘documentary’ called Pray Away, which attempts to document the work of Christian ministries involved in ‘conversion therapy’. Woke media reviewers state that Pray Away “follows a brutal narrative arc” … whatever that means. However, author Becket Cook writes a wonderful critique of Netflix, and Hollywood in general, with his article – Netflix’s ‘Pray Away’ Seethes with Contempt for Christianity. Becket has considerable authority on this subject, as he was formerly gay himself and working in Hollywood.

Becket Cook (MA, Talbot School of Theology), formerly gay himself, is the author of A Change of Affection: A Gay Man’s Incredible Story of Redemption, and host of The Becket Cook Show on YouTube.
Ten years ago, Becket Cook was a gay man with a successful career in Hollywood, working with supermodels and travelling the world to design photo shoots for the likes of Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar. He attended award shows and parties with the celebrities in Hollywood and all over the globe. On the surface he appeared to be living a lifestyle that many desire.
But something was clearly missing in his life. Everything changed when Becket became a Christian, and with it he traded his former gay lifestyle for one that aligned with Christian beliefs. In the years since, Cook completed a degree at Talbot School of Theology and wrote a memoir of his conversion, A Change of Affection: A Gay Man’s Incredible Story of Redemption.
So Becket is the ideal person to critique this Netflix film, and Hollywood’s repeated attacks on Christianity.

It’s not surprising that Netflix would seize on a false gospel to surreptitiously proffer a hit piece on Christianity in a lopsided tale of woe. Much of the media can hardly resist glomming on to extremes to further an agenda that denigrates Christians. What is surprising is how poorly made this doc is. Not only does it lack a cohesive and compelling narrative, but it attempts to throw any sort of anti-Christian spaghetti at the wall to see what sticks.”
