Evidence is growing that the 2016 Donald Trump, who so courageously defended the unborn, has now totally flipped the script.
With the US election next month, the former president is distancing himself more and more from his formerly held anti-abortion stance.
Trump seems to be getting advice from numerous sources to leave the so called ‘golden calf’ (abortion) alone as he tries to secure another term in office.
Donald Trump himself last week confirmed that he would veto any federal abortion ban. Prior to that statement he had limited his words on the matter and in one televised debate had withheld from saying the word veto, rather pointing the finger at his running mate JD Vance for saying it.
But more telling last week was news that his wife, Melania Trump, is releasing a memoir prior to the election which casts no doubt on her total support for abortion. Surely if Donald Trump had concerns with the content of this memoir it would not have seen the light of day before the election. Even Trump himself has spoken of his wife’s pro-abortion stance and commented that she is “beloved by the people”.
Another family member has also given us some insight recently. During NBC coverage of the Republican National Convention, Trump’s son, Eric stated on live television that his father’s opinion on abortion has always been that it should not be banned. He also stated that Trump believes that marriage should not be defined as one man and one woman.
The Republican Party itself has mirrored those exact thoughts and changed its platform to encompass them – the first time in the last 40 years.
Where does this leave America? This election there is NO pro-life candidate to vote for. This is not going unnoticed.
In the US we are already seeing previous pro-life Trump supporters seriously considering what to do. Many are discussing the pro’s and cons of simply not going to the ballot box as well as debating on voting for the lesser of two evils.
The support of the pro-life movement in the US was one of the reasons Donald Trump was elected in 2016…it seems he has turned his back on them. While voting for the Harris/Walz ticket would not be up for negotiation by most pro-life advocates, it seems the thought of backing Trump is getting harder to swallow.
Pro-life campaigners in the US (and all over the world) need to ready themselves. The battle is only going to get harder from here…whatever the election result is next month.
Standing firm for the lives of the unborn is of utmost importance, whatever the cost.
