The provision of daycare has been one of the most successful ‘sales’ stories in recent history. In New Zealand, childcare continues to be commodified by the state, private sector, and even the church, to levels unthinkable only a generation ago. The number of children and infants attending daycare centres has risen dramatically, and the age at which they enter daycare centres is younger than ever before.
