The 11th annual New Zealand Forum on the Family will bring together a national network of family-focused organisations, scholars, leaders and individuals who are part of a movement for social change to bring NZ to a point where families are strengthened, marriage is honoured, and life is protected.

WALT HEYER
Can a boy truly be ‘trapped’ in a girl’s body? Can modern medicine really ‘reassign’ sex? Is sex something ‘assigned’ in the first place? What’s the loving response to a friend or child experiencing a gender-identity conflict? What should our law say on these issues?
Walt is a former transgender with a passion to help others who regret gender change. He travels extensively to share his story at conferences, churches and universities, and has appeared on numerous radio and television shows in the U.S. and Canada. Through his website, SexChangeRegret.com, and his blog, WaltHeyer.com, Walt raises public awareness about the incidence of regret and the tragic consequences suffered as a result. Walt’s story can be read in novel form in Kid Dakota and The Secret at Grandma’s House and in his autobiography, A Transgender’s Faith. His other books include Paper Genders and Gender, Lies and Suicide.

WENDY FRANCIS
Wendy Francis is the director of the Centre for Human Dignity in Australia. CHD was launched in 2017 to fight pornography and the sexual exploitation of women and girls. She is a recognised Australian spokesperson for the rights of children and women and an effective campaigner against sexual exploitation in all its forms. In 2010 Wendy commenced a movement “Outdoor Advertising Should Be G Rated“, contributing to various inquiries and to laws being introduced to stop offensive messaging on Australian roads. Wendy is a Director and Board Member of Samaritans Purse Australia, and a board member of Vision Media Australia and the Queensland Alliance for Kids. Wendy has travelled to countries such as Vietnam, Thailand, Bangladesh and Cambodia to oversee projects which seek to rescue women and children from sex slavery and also provide literacy projects amongst rural women.

HON SIMON BRIDGES – ONE TO ONE INTERVIEW
Leader of the Opposition HON SIMON BRIDGES has confirmed his attendance. With abortion, euthanasia, marijuana, pornography, gender identity, parenting, freedom of conscience, child abuse, law and order, and other important family issues on the political agenda, Bob McCoskrie will be putting the tough questions to Mr Bridges about where he personally stands (and also the National party) on these issues.

RYAN T ANDERSON (video interview)
Bob McCoskrie interviews Ryan in Washington DC. Ryan has previously spoken at the Forum on the topics of euthanasia and marriage. He is the author of the new (and very popular) book When Harry Became Sally – Responding to the Transgender Moment.
Drawing on the best insights from biology, psychology, and philosophy, Ryan offers a balanced approach, and a sober and honest survey of the human costs of getting human nature wrong. Ryan shows how the law is being used to coerce and penalise those who believe the truth about human nature, and shows how families can begin to push back with principle and prudence, compassion and grace.

DR AMANDA LANDERS
Dr Amanda Landers is a community-based Palliative Care Physician working in the Canterbury region. She is also a Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Otago. In 2008, as part of her palliative medicine training, she travelled to Wellington and worked at Mary Potter Hospice. The next year the whole family packed up and travelled to the Northern Territory in Australia, working in rural and remote areas of the Top End. Amanda is passionate about helping people to live well with life-limiting illness. She spends her time talking with patients and their whanau, helping them to understand what to expect and making sure people are comfortable. As a past Chair of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Palliative Medicine Aotearoa branch, she was involved in representing the palliative care perspective in the Lecretia Seales case, and presenting to the Health Select Committee on the topic of assisted suicide. She has recently held a series of public forums on this topic in Christchurch. Her ultimate wish for our New Zealand society is that we will see palliative care as everybody’s business and that death is a normal part of life.

DR JOHN FOX
Dr John Fox has a PhD in English Literature from the University of Auckland. He has been an academic, worked in family and community restoration, public policy, and children’s and youth work. He is the uncle and brother of adopted children, a son, a disabled person with spastic hemiplegia, a human being, and an Anglican seminarian. He specialises in good coffee, teaching adults to read, music, and slow food.
As a representative of ELEVATE Christian Disability Trust, he shares his powerful Oral Submission made against David Seymour’s End of Life Choice Bill.
GLENN T. STANTON
Glenn is the Director of Global Family Formation Studies at Focus on the Family in Colorado Springs. Glenn holds a graduate degree in Interdisciplinary Humanities from the University of West Florida with an emphasis in philosophy and history. He has been working professionally as a respected researcher in the field of sexuality and gender for nearly 25 years. He is the author of seven books on various aspects of marriage and family, including The Family Project:The Book (2014), Secure Daughters, Confident Sons: How Parents Guide Their Children into Authentic Masculinity and Femininity (2011), Loving My (LGBT) Neighbor: Being Friends in Grace and Truth (2014), and The Ring Makes All the Difference: The Hidden Consequences of Cohabitation and the Strong Benefits of Marriage (2011). He has contributed to many others. He is also the author of Family First New Zealand’s 2015 report on gender identity – Boys Girls Other – Making Sense of the Confusing New World of Gender Identity. Glenn is a senior contributor at The Federalist – a widely-read social-issues blog – and has been widely quoted on marriage and family issues in major newspapers and magazines such as The New York Times, Washington Post, USA Today, Rolling Stone, Newsweek, Salon.com, The Advocate, Washington Blade, and Los Angeles Times. Glenn has also made numerous appearances on cable and network television shows such MSNBC, Nightline, ABC News, FOX NEWS, CNN, the Today Show, and as a return guest on the Dr. Phil Show.

DR JANE SILLOWAY-SMITH
Jane Silloway Smith, PhD is the Director of the Every Life Research Unit, and is an experienced public policy researcher, with interest in the application of social justice to public policy. From 2009 to 2016, Jane was a researcher and Research Manager at Maxim Institute, where her primary areas of research were foreign aid, social policy, and end-of-life care and choices. Jane holds a PhD in history from Northwestern University. Prior to her work at Maxim, Jane taught in the history departments at Northwestern University and the University of Auckland. Alongside her work at Every Life, she teaches history and social justice on the Venn Foundation Internship.
Topic: Jane will update us on the progress of the End of Life Choice Bill (Euthanasia) and the Law Commission Abortion Law Review (Abortion).
