Many parents are being given false prenatal screening results, incorrectly determining that the fetus will likely be born with genetic abnormalities. This ultimately results in many of these unborn babies being aborted.
Now the US Food and Drug Administration has finally admitted many prenatal screening tests have been giving false results. Many of these tests are incorrect about 85 percent of the time.
In January, a New York Times report exposed that competing companies are promising expectant mothers that their tests are “highly” accurate, but they failed to publish any data to back up their claims. Analysis by the New York Times found that the tests are incorrect about 85 percent of the time. Thus many families have been given an inaccurate diagnosis of abnormalities or irregularities that may have led them to abort their unborn baby.
Note – Noninvasive prenatal testing (NIPT), sometimes called noninvasive prenatal screening (NIPS), is a method of determining the risk that the fetus will be born with certain genetic abnormalities. This testing analyses small fragments of DNA that are circulating in a pregnant woman’s blood. The FDA says these tests have been increasingly used to look for genetic abnormalities in an unborn baby by testing a blood sample from the mother.
Republican Texas Rep. Chip Roy says “admission by the FDA regarding the inherent risks of NIPT screenings marks another step towards protecting life by the most pro-abortion administration in American history,”
“Parents deserve complete information when making complicated medical decisions for their children – especially when these tests can be a matter of life or death”
In fact, Chip Roy shared with The Daily Wire that his own godson was recommended for abortion following a prenatal screening, saying that he cannot “help but pray for those not as lucky as my godson.”
“His parents chose life,” Roy said. “The test was wrong. He was born perfectly healthy, and to this day, we are all grateful for the joy he has brought with him into this world.”
