Academics don’t feel free to air controversial opinions, according to a survey of academics by the Free Speech Union. Three of the taboo subjects were – not surprisingly – gender ideology, the Treaty of Waitangi and climate change. Academic freedom appears to ‘be on life support’ in our halls of learning. We speak to Jonathon Ayling, CE of the Free Speech Union.
