Solid Ground – 1 September 2026

In this episode of Solid Ground, Simon begins by encouraging protestors (for whatever cause) to get their signs right before hitting the streets.

He addresses a viral claim that Māori voting booths would receive $500 for refreshments, noting the Electoral Commission says the idea was put forward but has been declined.

Simon discusses recent reports that Denmark sterilised Inuit women in Greenland in the 1960s–70s, but suggesting caution before racing to use terms like ‘genocide’. Similarly, while talking the tragedy at the Nepal–Tibet border, he questions how anyone can start claiming it is ‘climate change’ so early on.

He also discusses Trump’s renaming Lake Ontario, noting how many expressing outrage are progressives who also think you can just change your name, your sex, pronouns, and more. Alongside this, he draws viewers attention to a recent Newsroom op-ed by two scientists clearly outlining how biological sex is binary.
