Solid Ground – 29 October 2026

In this episode of Solid Ground, Simon begins with the latest polls including one that has seen a major change between Labour and National. He also highlights a video put out by the Irish government asking grandparents to get formal consent for giving people hugs (we kid you not).

Sticking with New Zealand politics, Simon notes early moves by some on the left to create an impression the election has been rigged, and RNZ continues its extraordinary efforts to promote a small political party.

The show ends with Simon discussing an investigation in New Zealand of a doctor who has broken the euthanasia rules, including giving the lethal poisons for one person to another patient, and yet no one is being held to account.

Finally, Simon encourages everyone to join him and Bob tonight for Political Playback’s 100th episode.
