In this episode of Family Matters, Simon talks with Family First’s newest team member and new show host, Samuel Bilton. Samuel is hosting two new shows, BiltonTruth and Counter Culture.
Samuel shares his background as a Christian, youth pastor, husband to Emily, law graduate, and former police prosecutor in Hamilton, plus also having been an infantry reservist in the army.
Samuel discusses his experiences working in MIQ facilities during the Covid period and how he moved into law, eventually becoming a police prosecutor. Simon and he discuss what this prosecutorial roles entails, the insights he gained, and the emotional weight of repeated exposure to violence and sexual offending while still valuing accountability and compassion. Samuel also shares how the Alcohol and Drug Treatment Court works, discussing how it helps both victims and offenders, and says they should be rolled out across the country.
Simon then explores the new and exciting online shows that Samuel his hosting – BiltonTruth and Counter Culture. BiltonTruth applies an unapologetically biblical approach to current issues, while Counter Culture is a panel format where Samuel hosts younger guests to discuss the issues of the day that mainstream media and others do not want to discuss, or only give one narrow perspective.
