Show Script:
Media Prefer Pronouns Over Truth
The news broke last week about a tragedy overseas. A school shooting – but not in the US as we normally expect. It was in Canada.
But the initial reports immediately raised suspicions about whether the authorities and the media were telling us everything they knew.
But it also confirmed that the media prioritises personal pronouns to reporting objective facts & truth.
But we already knew that eh
According to the rabidly left wing and fake news specialists The Guardian when the news first broke
Nine people have been killed and dozens injured after an assailant opened fire at a school in western Canada, in one of the deadliest mass shootings in the country’s history. The suspect was later found dead from what appeared to be a self-inflicted injury… A police active-shooter alert sent to people in the area described the suspect as “female in a dress with brown hair”.
“Female in a dress…”
That immediately raised eyebrows. Do we say “a man in shorts” or “a man in jeans” or “a man who has just had a shave” even?
Canadian Police Supt Ken Floyd later confirmed at a news conference that the suspect described in the alert was the same person found dead in the school, but described him not as a gunman but as “a gunperson”
That raised our eyebrows even further.
So it was a “‘Gunperson’ in a ‘dress’”.
This was from the NZ Herald. Don’t mention the sex of the person. Avoid the use of pronouns.
Hmmm.
But then non-mainstream media outlets starting reporting – probably based on multiple locals in the area speaking up – that this was not a female in a dress. There was a “public YouTube account believed to be owned by Jesse features the transgender flag and uses ‘she/her’ pronouns.”
Finally there was an official statement that actually this was a young man aged 18 who had started wanting to be a girl when he was 12 years old – this is him at 13 – and was now “identifying” as a woman. But the Canadian police weren’t too keen on saying that.
The suspect was “an 18 year old female”. But then a reporter says that all around the world, it’s being reported that the shooter is transgender.
Have a watch.
We identify the suspect as they chose to be identified…
So if I identify as a furry, are they going to use my preferred pronouns also of me / miaow. Or if I identify as a 2 year old, can I use the defence of doli incapax – which means Latin for “incapable of doing harm” – a legal doctrine presuming children under a certain age (often 10–14) lack the mental capacity to form criminal intent.
So if we’re calling male offenders “females”, what effect does that have on data collection around gender based crime and gender based victims?
But here’s the key thing.
Even once the biological sex of the shooter had been announced, the media still played the gender ideology game and used the fictional and preferred pronouns to describe the shooter that had just killed eight people including his mother and step-brother – rather than reporting the facts.
The biological truth of his horrific crime.
The ideology was more important than the facts, according to the media.
One hour after the biological identity of the shooter was being reported around the world, our state broadcaster 1News continued to misrepresent or hide the facts – take your choice of what word you use, maybe lie is another term – and printed this – and in the article, say
Police on Thursday identified the suspect in a school shooting in Canada as an 18-year-old who had prior mental health calls to her home…
Not telling you the facts.
But then taxpayer funded broadcaster Radio NZ did the same – two hours after the facts had come out – using Reuters (who used to also be a once-credible news source)
Canadian school shooter identified as 18-year-old woman with mental health issues
Canadian police have identified the person who carried out a school massacre as an 18-year-old woman with mental health issues but did not give a motive for one of the worst mass shootings in Canada’s history…. She once attended the school but dropped out four years ago.
On Thursday – a day after there was absolutely no doubt that the shooter was a male – this from RNZ – “Female shooter one of 10 dead in Canada shooting”
Even on Friday, this post
What the online footprint of the Canada school shooter tells us
From CNN. Okay – we should stop there eh. This is gonna be fake news. And it is
The suspect in Canada’s Tumbler Ridge mass shooting posted about guns and hunting on her YouTube channel and appeared to have written about her struggles with mental health online, according to social media posts. Canadian police named 18-year-old Jesse Van Rootselaar as the shooter who killed her mother and 11-year-old stepbrother before opening fire at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School, killing five students and a teacher and then fatally shooting herself. Police are still investigating and have not determined a motive. Van Rootselaar, who was transgender, transitioned about six years ago, according to police. She was a resident of the remote town in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in British Columbia and had dropped out of school about four years ago.
As someone commented on my X feed – why mention the sex at all if you’re going to lie about it? Good question. Another asked – did she get recorded in crime stats as a female mass shooter? Also a good question. There haven’t been many female mass shooters, have there.
But those facts don’t appear to be as important to the authorities in Canada and the media as the ideology, and pushing the gender ‘identity’ narrative.
Almost an hour after it was confirmed that it was an 18 year old male with mental health concerns and transgender, the NZ Herald still wanted to play the game
Deadly mass shooting in Canada: What we know
Or more correctly, the narrative we want to push
The shooter was named by police as local resident Jesse Van Rootselaar, 18, a high school dropout who had been visited several times by police over mental health concerns. She was “apprehended for assessment and follow up” under the Mental Health Act and taken to the hospital on occasion, authorities said. Weapons were seized from the residence some years ago, police said, but they were subsequently returned after the lawful owner petitioned to get them back. Officers said Van Rootselaar has previously held a firearms licence that had expired in 2024, and had no firearms registered to her. Police identified Van Rootselaar as transgender, saying that she began to transition six years ago and identified as female both “socially and publicly”. They said she dropped out of school four years ago, and that no suicide note had been located so far.
So the NZ Herald play preferred pronouns – rather than describing the facts.
Not to be outdone, Stuff publishes this piece – and its almost three hours after the biological sex of the shooter has been confirmed.
Suspect in Canada mass shooting is identified as an 18-year-old with history of police visits to her home
The suspect in a Canada school shooting was an 18-year-old who had a history of police visits to her home to check on her mental health, authorities said Wednesday, a day after the attack that killed eight people in a remote part of British Columbia. Police said Jesse Van Rootselaar was found dead from an apparent self-inflicted wound following the assault on a school in the small mountain community of Tumbler Ridge. Royal Canadian Mounted Police Deputy Commissioner Dwayne McDonald said Van Rootselaar first killed her mother and stepbrother at the family home before attacking the nearby school. She had a history of mental health contacts with police, he said. “I can say that Jesse was born as a biological male who approximately six years ago began to transition to female,” McDonald said. The motive was unclear.
The Canadian authorities are still playing the game and the media are very happy to play along with it – rather than act as the 4th estate and report the facts. The biological facts.
This was a male mass shooter with mental illness.
But even at 6pm on the television news, seven hours after the biological facts, Stuff will wanted to mislead viewers
No Samantha – he was 18 year old Jesse who wanted to identify as a female – and who started wanting to be a girl at the age of 12. That might confirm the mental health concerns eh.
1News were no better.
No mention of the biological sex – just the ‘identity’ – and the suspect killed “themselves” – not “himself” as factually accurate…
A Sky News reporter was mocked on social media after saying – “That is extremely unusual. It’s rare to have a female attacker.” Yeah it’s rare – CAUSE IT WASN’T A FEMALE!! Idiots.
Other outlets that want to tell porkies include The New York Times, CNN, Reuters, PBS, the Vancouver Sun, Al Jazeera.
This is the problem when we don’t tell the biological truth. It harms everyone.
As Billboard Chris – a Canadian campaigner – posted:
He was a young man who needed serious help for his mental health. Instead, his delusion was affirmed, and the result is murdered innocent children.
He later posted
Someone needed to tell this kid the truth and help him to be happy as a man, but it’s illegal to do so. It’s a criminal offence of conversion therapy, so he never got help and he got worse. Murdered children paid the price for our politicians’ stupidity and cowardice. Not even our police can call him a man. A cult has taken over our society.
I think what amazes me is that even two days after the event, the media don’t fact-check their own articles and correct them. Print a correction notice at the top of the article.
Where’s the Disinformation Project when you need them. Oh that’s right they’re just focused on the faaaaaaaar right white cisgender married males – like, er…… me!
Julia Hartley-Brewer from Talk TV in the UK makes this very valid point.
If it was a victim who was trans, they would have talked non-stop about that. But because the shooter is trans, it’s much much less emphasis. And the story usually quickly dies.
The other interesting thing is that two years ago, Charlie Kirk sounded the warning about all of this. And sadly, he was a victim of a shooter whose boyfriend or girlfriend was transgender.
This is two years ago…
As LifeSite News reports
Audrey “Aiden” Hale, the transgender-identifying, female perpetrator of the 2023 Covenant School shooting in Tennessee, killed three adults and three 9-year-old children. Robert “Robin” Westman, the man who shot at least 20 people at Annunciation Catholic School in August 2025 and then took his own life, expressed a wide range of extreme leftist ideological grievances in his online manifesto and had his name legally changed in 2020 to identify as female. Eighteen-year-old “Felix” Winter, a Scottish girl who identified as male, wrote about shooting other students in the head and planned to bomb her school.
But the media games continued – even when everybody knew the biological facts
The NZ Herald did focus on the “trans” aspect in a report last Friday – two days after the shooting – but they still want you to play the silly game of “gender identity”
The transgender teenager responsible for Canada’s worst school shooting in nearly 40 years struggled with her physical appearance and was fixated with guns and drugs. Jesse Van Rootselaar, an 18-year-old from the remote town of Tumbler Ridge who was born a male, wrote online about her 6ft (1.82m) frame and her desire to be a “petite” woman. She shot dead her mother, Jennifer Strang, and her 11-year-old stepbrother on Tuesday afternoon (local time) before walking to her former school 10 minutes away and opening fire on pupils and staff, killing eight before taking her own life. Police initially described the shooter as a “gunperson” and a “female in a dress”. They later revealed that Van Rootselaar had begun transitioning at the age of 12 and publicly identified as female. Police have not revealed a motive, but posts retrieved by the Telegraph from the shooter’s deleted social media accounts reveal a troubled teenager with mental health issues and difficulties transitioning to become a woman.
Is it any surprise he was struggling to become a woman? No – because it’s biologically impossible.
Is it any surprised that he was a troubled teen with mental health issues? No – but sadly, our politicians, media and radical gender activists have simply exacerbated that rather than helping heal the mind.
And the research backs up this association of gender dysphoria and comborbid disorders. Young vulnerable children struggling with a number of confounding mental health issues including trauma, social phobia, anxiety, depression, autism & gender dysphoria itself.
1News didn’t want to talk about it on Friday night – even to correct their reporting,.
Stuff’s ThreeNews did mention the victims on Friday night – but when referring to the male shooter, avoided any pronouns or mention of sex.
Here’s the real problem for the media. As outlined in a commentary on the conservative site Daily Signal:
The Associated Press Stylebook, which many outlets use as a benchmark for how to report the news, has taken an aggressively pro-transgender activist position.
The stylebook urges journalists to “identify people as transgender only when relevant, and use the name by which they live publicly.” It recommends avoiding “mention of a person’s gender transition or gender-affirmation surgery in news coverage” unless “it is central to the story.” Why? Because this might be “intrusive and insensitive.”
This guidance helps explain why The Associated Press appears to have considered the shooter’s transgender identity irrelevant enough to be excised from the coverage entirely. The AP, you see, didn’t want to be “insensitive” to Mr. Van Rootselaar.
Forgive me if I don’t care about being insensitive toward a mass murderer.
The AP Stylebook goes out of its way to silence dissent against transgender orthodoxy. While the “guidance” on transgender issues is steeped in transgender ideology, it flatly declares that journalists should “not use the term transgenderism, which frames transgender identity as an ideology.”
And it shows. Even late Friday afternoon two days after the shooting, AP updated their article to this
Suspect in Canada shooting is identified as an 18-year-old with history of police visits to her home
The transgender aspect is not even mentioned.
And just a quick update. On Saturday night – more than 72 hours after the shooting, 1News and the NZ Herald were still misrepresenting the facts, and lying to you, treating you like dummies.
It simply reinforces what we already know. If you want misinformation and disinformation, look no further than the legacy media who are quick to blame others for it, but are the most guilty of pushing false narratives. It’s only misinformation when they disagree with it.
Next time you hear the media mention he him boy male man OR alternatively she her girl female woman OR female athletes OR sexism OR misogyny OR female sports – you’ll have to take it with a grain of sale.
We really won’t know if they’re talking about Martha or Arthur.
And if we can’t trust them on basic facts such as whether the person they are reporting on is male or female – if they can’t get that basic biological fact correct – why would we trust them on any other aspect of the report.
Or any other news report for that matter.
