Te Pāti Māori want to radically reshape New Zealand’s tax system — including significantly higher income tax rates for high earners, a wealth tax, land tax, increase in company tax and more.
And they’re not alone. The Greens are proposing a raft of new and increased taxes of their own, including a wealth tax, an inheritance and gift tax.
But there’s a bigger question behind all of this: should we really be taking even more money from productive people and businesses and handing it to a government that is already bloated and inefficient?
