The newly released RSE curriculum has had some significant & welcome improvements – but there has been a disturbing change. The Ministry of Education has previously told schools and boards of trustees that they must find out the wishes of the school community in terms of how sex education should be implemented, “given the views, beliefs, and customs of the members of that community”. Well – no more. The Government doesn’t want your input or to consult with you anymore. They’re just going to tell you what they’re going to do. They’re also not required to provide detailed lesson plans or every classroom resource that will support this teaching and learning. Why the secrecy?
