In this episode of Solid Ground, Simon dives into the Covid report recently released by the Royal Commission. He expresses frustration at the lack of mainstream media coverage, and noting the last few weeks have seen a number of ‘puff pieces’, trying to pre-frame the debate. He argues the report is a narrative that fails to examine vaccine efficacy, adverse reactions, or even properly address the damage to social cohesion by the government decisions around mandates. Simon suggests that government took a rigid, power-driven approach, which ultimately meant the likes of rapid antigen tests were unnecessarily delayed, and wrong decisions around promoting a second vaccine does to 12-17 year olds (putting them at much greater risk of myocarditis). Simon reflects that the report is a missed opportunity to have told more stories of the Covid days, enabling people to have seen their experiences reflected in the report, and perhaps provide a path forward.
He also mentions Gwen Stefani’s return to Christianity and the irony of Uber’s “women-only” option when drivers can simply choose to self-identify however they want.
